Jonathan Waxman, M.D.

Dr Waxman is a board-certified Thoracic Surgeon, fellowship-trained in thoracic and minimally invasive surgery. Dr Waxman received his medical degree with summa cum laude from the Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City in 1996.

Thereafter, he went on to do his general surgery internship and residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, a Harvard Medical School teaching program, where he also completed his year as Chief Resident in General Surgery.

Afterwards, he went on to complete a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, a high-volume heart and lung center. Upon completion, he practiced cardiac, thoracic and heart and lung transplant surgery for the following two years before moving to Pittsburgh, PA, to do a fellowship in thoracic and minimally invasive surgery at the Heart Lung and Esophageal Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, under the direction of the world-renowned thoracic surgeon, James Luketich, M.D.

Dr Waxman then moved to South Florida and was recruited to practice in Boca Raton Community Hospital to help organize and promote their new multidisciplinary thoracic-oncology clinic and to bring into town the latest surgical techniques and technologies in order to bring in best practice guidelines in thoracic oncology care to the community. Dr Waxman served as the medical director for thoracic surgery and lead thoracic surgeon at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, where under his leadership, the institution received the prestigious accolade by US News & World Report as a high-performing center in lung cancer surgery.

Dr Waxman strives in providing state-of-the-art thoracic oncology care in a comprehensive manner, ensuring good communication with all the physicians involved in the care of his patients.

Dr Waxman maintains affiliations with several hospitals in Palm Beach, including Delray Medical Center and Boca Raton Regional Hospital among others, where he provides care for his patients.

Dr Waxman maintains relationships with most local and nationwide cancer centers, medical and radiation oncology groups and physicians, as well as pulmonary doctors in order to provide the best care possible for his patients in a comprehensive manner.
